! info from Underhill Genealogy pg 52.
born Jan 21 1609/10, Groton, Suffolk, died ca 1668 probably atHallett's
Cove, Newton, L.I., N.Y. married first Henry Winthrop, secondRobert Feake, and
    third William Hallett.
Elizabeth was born at her grandfather Winthrop's manor house, andgrew up very close to her mother's family. Only ten days afterher father's death she
married first cousin Jenry Winthrop, a dashing young man justreturned from
Barbados, who the next year sailed to Massachusetts to join hisfather, Capt,
John Winthrop, only to drown while trying to swim in the CharlesRiver, on the
day of his arrival. Thus Elizabeth arrived at Boston Nov 2,1631, aboard the
Lyon, she was already a widow, with a babe in arms. (The Lyonwhich also
brought the Governor's wife, Mrs. Margaret Winthrop, was greetedon arrival by
Capt. John Underhill and his militia_.
Elizabeth was soon married to Robert Feake, and their historyfor the next
fifteen years has been recorded, see Robert Feake. The storyof the
dissolution of Elizabeth's marriage to Feake, and her subsequantmarriage to
Hallett, has facinated many historians and genealogists. Thereis a wealth of
promary data available, though certain key facts have alwaysremained obscure.
For an excellent analysis see McCracken, op. cit., Vol.86, pp214-20. Whatever
transpired in 1648 Elizabeth bore Hallett a son. They wereforced to leave
Connecticut, but with help from John Winthrop, Jr. they foundrefuge under the
Dutch on Long Island, where Elizabeth spent the rest of herdays.

    * Notes from WFT # 5156,
