Samuel, son of Elder John Strong & Abigail Ford, twin of Joseph, B:5 Aug 1652, Northampton, M#1:19 Jun 1684, Esther Clapp, M#2:28 Oct 1698, Ruth Wright, nee Sheldon, he D:29 Oct 1732. On 10 Aug 1711, he and his son Samuel Jr., took a team of horses out of Northampton to a meadow to get a load of grain. They soon were ambushed by three Indians. When the townspeople rushed there they found young Samuel dead and father gone. Samuel Sr. had been wounded and taken prisoner. He was taken to Canada but later returned home. He arrived home on the Sabbath and entered the meeting house to the surprise and joy of the congregation.

M#1:19 Jun 1684, Esther Clapp, dau of Edward Clapp & Susanna Cockerill, she was B:1656 and D:26 Jan 1698, their ch: Esther married Nathaniel White; Samuel was killed by Indians at age 26; Susanna married John Lane; Abigail died in infancy; Abigail married first Samuel Church, and second Ebenezer Chapin; Christian; Nehemiah married first Hannah (French) Edwards, and second Mrs. Catherine Barrett; and Ezra married first Isabel Fowler, and second Miriam Danks. He M#2; 28 Oct 1698, Ruth Sheldon, B:27 Aug 1663, dau of Isaac Sheldon, and widow of Joseph Wright. Their ch: Mary married Nathaniel Edwards Jr.; Joseph died in infancy; Josiah married first Elizabeth Fowler, and second Hannah Smedley; and Dea. Samuel married Susannah Brace. Samuel and his son Samuel were ambushed by Indians 10 Aug 1711 at Northampton with the younger Samuel being killed. Samuel was taken to Canada as a prisoner by the Indians, but escaped and came home.
