The following information is from the Clore-Glore Genealogy manuscri pt by Delma Rae Carpenter, Sr. (1881-1967). A copy of this is availab le at the Madison Co., VA Library. This manuscript is a typescript and u pdate of another, handwritten, Clore-Glore Genealogy manuscript by Dr. Art hur Leslie Keith. The original of Keith's manuscript is at the Newberry L ibrary, Chicago, IL. Please note that some of this information has been u pdated by other researchers in the meantime and I'll try to add notes wi th the current information.
Page 18: George Clore (son of Michael Clore) appears first on March 25, 1746, on w hich date (with Russell Hill and Francis Michael) he appraised the esta te of Frederick Bumgardner. In May, 1747 he was appointed as overse er of the highway from the German ridge path. On November 15, 1750 Micha el Glore (sic) and wife Barbara deeded to George Glore "for natural lov e" 300 acres lying on the north side of the Robinson River, part of a gra nt to George Moyer of September 28, 1728. Probably George Clore was alrea dy heavily afflicted and this deed was made to enable him to provide for h is family, for only eight days later, November 23, 1750 he made his wil l, probated September 19, 1751. It was witnessed by Mical Holt, John Clor e, and Michael Rossal. Testator names John Clore and Mical Rossal as h is executors. Mention is made of loving wife Barbara Clore, sons Micha el Clore and Peter Clore, and daughter Alesabat (Elizabeth) Clore, ea ch of which children is to receive 100 acres of land. Michael Russel reno unces his executorship and John Clore is appointed sole executor. The cou rt appointed Peter Weaver as guardian of Michael Clore, heir and devis ee of the testator. Evidently he was the oldest son and still a minor. S ince the two children of George Clore who married did not marry until abo ut 1768 and later it is safe to assume that they were quite young when the ir father died and that George was probably under 30. Inasmuch as Peter W eaver was appointed guardian of George Clore's son it is a safe inferen ce that Barbara, wife of George, was the daughter of Peter Weaver. I al so believe she soon after her first husand's death married (Andrew?) Carpe nter, Peter Weaver in his will, dated March 27, 1763, probated August 1 8, 1763, mentions among others a daughter Barbary Carpenter. ********************************************************
