He was baptised into the Hebron Lutheran Chur ch but in December, 1822 he joined the Robinson River Baptist Churc h. In March, 1823, Judith Clore (wife of Moses), Rhoda Clore, and Tabit ha Clore were baptised and received into the same church. Rhoda may ha ve been the daughter of Ephraim Clore. But since both Ephraim and Moses C lore had daughters named Tabitha, it is not certain whose daughter this Ta bitha was. In spite of the fact that Moses Clore was dismissed in Augus t, 1823 to form a new church at Madison C.H., Va., he continues on the rec ords of the Robinson River Baptist Church, of which he was an honored memb er. He was the messenger to the Association in 1831 and 1837, a deac on in 1833. In the same year he agreed to make a clerk's table and draw er and to present it to the church. He was evidently a cabinet-make r, as were many other Clores. In November, 1833 Moses Clore informed t he church that he and others had given a colored sister letter of dismissi on. The church approve of his action but admonish him not to do the sa me again. In February, 1835 Moses Clore was appointed to meet Thornton 's Gap Church to consult about forming a new Association. In June, 1835 M oses Clore informed the church that he was aggreived with John Fishbac k. In July, 1835 he was sent as a messenger to the Association with pow er to withdraw if he saw proper. On Dec. 23, 1824, Ephraim Clore and wi fe Amy sold to Moses Clore. Moses Clore married Judith Yager, Jan. 19, 18 13, in Madison Co., Va., daughter of Michael Yager, son of Michael Yage r, son of Adam Yager, son of Nicholas Yager of the 1717 colony. Her a ge is given as 54 in the 1850 census of Madison Co., Va.
Kirkwood, p 532 - Moses [Clore] was the ancestor of all the Clores of Madi son County, Va. who have been engaged in the furniture manufacturing busin ess. He was a cabinetmaker. He made a gift to the church at Criglersvil le of Clerk's table with a drawer, lock and key for use of the church. " He was an honored member; served as deacon; messenger to the Associati on in 1831. In 1837 had letter of dismissal to form a new church, Beth Ca r." He said in his will that his slave and wife can choose own master.
