    Gene Dear, "Geroge Razor, the Immigrant", Beyond Germanna, Volume 3, N o. 4, July 1991, p 154-156:
George Adam Raüser came to America from Germany on the ship Mary and Sara h. The ship sailed from Amsterdam via Portsmouth, England, and arriv ed in Philadelphia on October 26, 1754. Also included on the Mary and Sar ah was George Ludwig Nonnemacher who settled in the Robinson River ar ea of what is now Madison County, Virginia.
George Razor married Margaret, nee unknown, probably in Pennsylvan ia or in New Jersey. He settled in Newton township, Sussex Co., NJ, whe re he lived until he moved to Virginia. On May 14, 1774, George bought 1 00 acres in the Robinson River area of Culpeper County, VA from Frederi ck and Sarah Baumgardner. The Razor/Räser family can be found in the Hebr on Church Register from 1776 to 1788. About 1794 George Razor, Sr., his s ons Peter and Christian, son-in-law George Swindle, several members of t he Swindle family and, possibly at the same time, Aaron Clore moved to t he Abbeville district of South Carolina. Family legend states that Georg e, Sr. died during the move and was buried along the way. In South Caroli na the family name consistenly became Rasor whereas the family name in Vir ginia became Racer.
