Given Name: Aaron L.

AARON LEE may have been born in Johnston County, N. C. His parents DAV ID LEE & MARTHA BLACKMAN lived there when Aaron and other relatives remov ed to south Alabama about 1815. The clan moved to Conecuh County, Alabam a, first. From there they moved to Wilcox County and Lowndes County, Al a. In early 1840s, Aaron, his wife and some of his children moved last ly to Neshoba County, Mississippi, the Plattsburg area near the county lin es of Neshoba and Winston Counties.

AARON'S parents in both their wills name him and his siblings as their hei rs.
Aaron appeared on the tax rolls of Johnston County, N. C. for the first ti me in Capt Lewis Sasser's District in 1812. He was taxed as owning 300 ac res with no black poll tax. The last time he appeared on N. C. tax rol ls was in 1817, with land on Mill Creek.
There was a SUGGS Family at Norfolk, VA. In 1810 Census of Johnston County, N. C. the AARON LEE residence showed t he following:
Two males 10 and lessAlsay H. Lee, 1801 and Jesse Lee, 1803
One male 26-45Aaron Lee born 1781
Two females 10 and lessMartha E. or A., 1801 and Mary Edna Lee, 1806
One female 10-16A dau who didn't survive?
One female 16-26Mary Suggs (?) Lee, 1783
Aaron, Jesse and Joel were all on the tax rolls of N. C. in 1817. By 18 18 Aaron and Joel were on the Conecuh County, Alabama rolls. In Alabama 1 820, the following were in that state: Aaron, Joel, William in Conecuh a nd in Wilcox County, Samuel Le
Mr. Everret Lee, great grandson of Joel, lived near Plattsburg, Winston Co unty. In 1967 he pointed out the graves of Aaron Lee & wife Mary. They a re unmarked and surrounded by a square trench. They laid along si de of a gravel road, just across from the Rials Residence. Another old, a bandoned road ran near the graves.
We had difficulty in documenting Aaron and Mary to be the parents of all t he children listed. This was finally accomplished by finding an Alabama d eed from the older Lee couple "to our son, Joel Lee." Book J, Pages 75 0, Lowndes County, Alabama. Later at Alsay's death and probation of h is estate, 1869, all of his brothers and sisters were named. See Proba te Minutes 18, Page 588. If he was the son of Aaron and Mary, then the ot hers were children also.
Did this AARON LEE have a middle name? I found an Alabama document, Lown des County, November 1, 1844, dealing with THE BAPTIST CHURCH OF CHRI ST AT REPOSE, certifying that Brother Jesse Lee was a regular Baptist Mini ster. The document was signed by the following:
Alexander Lee, Deacon
S. W. Lee, Deason
Martin Lee, Church Clerk
Aaron L. Lee (we assume this to be the senior member of the church, born 1 781. This is not Aaron Suggs Lee, the youngest son of Aaron Le e. If assumption is correct, then middle initial of AARON LEE, SR. w as "L".)
Alsay H. Lee (This is the eldest son of AARON AND MARY LEE). He was bo rn 1801, died 1857 AL)
Noel Lee (Probably the son of AARON & MARY LEE)
Wm Atkinson (Probably the father of the girls who married Noel and Joel)
E. D. Cooper
Lovard Ingram (the husband of MARTHA LEE, dau of AARON & MARY LEE. She di ed about this same time, 1844, in AL.
Isaac Ingram (We believe this is the father of Lovard Ingram) Wrong: Lov ard's father apparently lived and died in Johnston County, N. C. This Is aac Ingram is probably the son of Lovard and Martha Lee Ingram.

In 1844, Aaron Lee (Sr) appointed Samuel W. Lee guardian of the heirs of M ary Edna Lee Salter, (his daughter) Lowndes County, Alabama. She did n ot die until about 1857. (We think that this action came about due to t he death of MARTHA LEE, who was married to LOVARD INGRAM. AARON, Sr. appa rently wanted the children of his daughters protected as far as property r ights were concerned.
In 1844, Aaron Lee (Sr) appointed Issac Ingram as guardian of the hei rs of Martha Lee Ingram (his daughter), Wilcox County, Alabama. She did d ie somewhere about this time
In 1845, Aaron and Mary Lee sold their land in Lowndes County, Alabama " to our son Joel Lee of Neshoba County, MS. See Book J, Page 750
Harold Fisher's files contain copies of all these papers. This is importa nt: the county of Wilcox is adjacent to Lowndes in Alabama, in fact I thi nk some portions of one of the counties was transferred to the other count y. This makes difficult in knowing which courthouse to research.
The executors of the estate of Aaron Lee, in Neshoba County, were sons Aar on S. Lee and Joel Lee, 1857. Book J, page 564, Neshoba, shows them selli ng Aaron's land as Executors.
In 1854 Aaron, Sr sold Neshoba land to Joel, without Mary Lee's signatur e. Does that mean she was deceased by this time?
