Mrs. Avey Joins Mate in Death

After being married for more than sixty-five years, even death was unable to part Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Boyd Avey of Kent for long.

Mr. Avey, ninety-three-year-old Civil War veteran, died last Monday. Last night, less than a week later, his wife, Bertha, eighty, quietly joined him in death.

Ill with pneumonia when her husband died last week, Mrs. Avey suffered a relapse the following day and grew weaker until the end came last night.

Mrs. Avey came West with her husband from Iowa thirty-eight years ago and resided in Seattle about ten years before moving to Kent. The couple celebrated their sixty-fifth wedding anniversary last New Year Day.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Adelaide Austin, Seattle, and Jessie and Winifred Avey of Kent, and two sons, Ralph Avey of Kent, and W. A. Avey of Renton, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow under direction of the Kent Funeral Home.
