NOTE: Texas Ann Banton b. abt 1852-1857 is living with William McCormick and family on the 1870 Cenus for Brookville, Campbell, Virginia. I am uncertain who Texas Ann's parents are. She is found on the 1860 census with Polly Banton age 72 and Mary Banton age 38 above. I believe Polly was the wife of Samuel, son of William Banton and Anna Smith. My assumption is that Texas Ann and the other children are grandchildren of Samuel and Polly, children of Mary. A Samuel Banton is found on the 1870 Census for Brookville, Campbell, Virginia living with Samuel McCormick and family. Some claim this Samuel from this 1870 census is Samuel Glover Banton, I believe he is more likely the Samuel R Banton from the 1860 Eastern District, Campbell, Virginia census above. Perhaps Mary Banton on the 1860 census is the sister of William and Samuel McCormick.
