    Redstone was also known as German Township (16-26/1800 Fayette Co. Census) "Redstone Fort was Brownsville. There was an Indian mound on the site of part of Brownsville. I think Ellis says it was on the mound that the fort was built. Indian villages were often placed at strategic sites for defense. Isn't that site also called Fort Burd ?" Tony - pafaette L

    Aaron's will was recorded in Butler County - dated 20 July 1840, Bk 2 (os) P412-413. Will probated 20 Sep. 1840 "Old Wills " [Butler Co ] p 412-413, His brother Wm. and his wife Julia were named Executors. James Thompson was a witness.

    1800 Census, next to his brother James and near a Randal Lee. Bio sketch of his son says he was born near Red Stone Fort, on the east side of Monogahela River, between Redstone Creek & Dunlap's Creek, and area that was also in Augusta Co.. Virginia at one time. Aaron left a will dated 20 June 1840 and died 1842 in Warren Co.. OH. Children (21 in total, but only those 14 for which names were given are listed):

    SEPTEMBER TWENTY</b>
    In the name of God Amen. I Aaron Thompson of Butler County being somewhat afflicted in body, but sound of mind, memory and understanding, thanks be to Almighty God for his mercies now calling to mind the mortality and believing it is appointed once for all to die, do now make and ordain this my last will and testament in the manner and form as follows, and first of all I commit my soul to God and my body at my decease to the earth to be buried in a decent (sic) manner and as to my estate where with it hath pleased God to keep me within this life I give and dispose of the same as follows and it is my will and I order that all my lawful debts be fully paid.

    I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Julia at my decease all the moveable propertyshe has brought with her to my house. Also two milch cows and my Bay mare, Also the eighty acres of land that I hereafter will to my son Martin. She is to have and to hold until he arrives to the age of twenty one.

    I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Jane one bed and bedding, one cow and my Sorrel colt.

    I give and bequeath to my son Robert one three year old colt, also the West (East written in)half of the Southwest (East written in) quarter of Section 15 in Township Eighteen North of Range four West in district of lands subject to sale Crawfordsville, Indiana. Containing eighty acres entered by me (E - written in)(W1/2 SW1/4 Section 15, Township 18 N, Range 4W )

    I give and bequeath to my son Martin the West half of the Soutwest quarter of Section fourteen (sixteen written in) in township eighteen North of range 4 West in the county of Montgomery and State of Indiana (W1/2 SW1/4 Section 15, Township 18N, Range 4W); containing Eighty acres to have possession at the age of Twenty one and in case he dies before he arrives to that age then the said eighty acres is to belong equally to his sisters Louisa and Phebe Ellen.

    It is my will that my son Robert should rent a farm and keep his Mother-in-law and family for one year and if he consents to do so it is my will and I order that Robert shall have the farming utensils to carry it on, and the end of the year they shall be his, and in case he should not consent so to do, it is my will that my Executor make a sale and sell all the moveable property and after paying all debts and expenses surplus if any there be to be paid over the one third to my son Robert and the two thirds to my wife Julia.

    And as it respects my other children Margaret, John, Joseph,David and Aaron & Enoch, I have given them their shares heretofore. I hereby appoint my wife Julia amd my Brother Wm. Thompson Executors of this my last will and Testament investing them and the survivors of them with all powers necessary for the full and ample execution of that trust.

    And I do hereby pronounce this to be my true and only last will and testament by me the testator in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twentieth day of July - in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty--
