Long-time Juneau resident Norman Peter Aspen died May 3, 1998, in Kenai. A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, at the Tlingit and Haida Community Center.

Aspen was born on May 24, 1946, in Sitka to Sig and Nancy Aspen. He was a member of the Raven, Dog Salmon Clan. Aspen lived in Juneau from 1949 to 1992. He worked as a fisherman and logger.

Aspen is survived by daughters Libby Kodza, and Lainie Brooks of Anchorage, and Theresa Nancy Aspen of Juneau; sons Norman Jr. Aspen, and Cory Aspen of Juneau; sisters Alberta Aspen, Geri West, and Christine Smith of Juneau, Marjorie Halloff of Anchorage, and Jacqueline Henry of Oklahoma; brothers Sig Aspen and Alfred Burgo of Anchorage, and Nicolai Aspen of Seattle.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

NOTE: SISTERS CHRISTINE AND MARJORIE WERE NOT ADDED AS THEY MAY HAVE BEEN CHILDREN OF AN UNIDENTIFIED MARRIAGE SINCE THEY WERE NOT NOTED AS SURVIVING CHILDREN BY THE OBITUARY OF SIGURD MAGNAR ASPEN, JUNEAU EMPIRE, 28 JUL 1988. FURTHER RESEACH IS NEEDED.
