    NOTES: Admitted to the bar in 1822. President Jackson appointed him federal attorney for the northern district of Alabama, and he held the office for five or six years and then resigned. President Van Buren appointed him consul to Campeachy and Tabasco, but he died before he could enter on the active discharge of his duties. Hon William Brandon, who thrice represented Madison in the legislature, and died in 1848, was a brother. Children: Two sons and three daughters of which Capt. John D. Brandon is the youngest child.
