        Nancy Evelyn Joplin, 75, of Fort Smith passed away Monday, Sept. 28, 2009. She was born Sept. 1, 1934, in Rich Mountain to William Martin Anglin and Bonnie Lennis Little. She worked in the nursing profession and was a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. She worked on several volunteer projects and charities over the years and was a member of the Christian Church.

        Graveside funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith with the Rev. Paul Bridges officiating. Burial will be at the U.S. National Cemetery under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.
        She is survived by her husband, John Joplin; daughter, Lisa Gayle Toahty of Del City, Okla.; two sons, John Edward Joplin of Greenwood and Paul David Joplin of Fort Smith; sisters, Francis Turner, Samantha Evans, Barbara Powell and Deborah Jackson, and brothers, Martin, Lee, Frosty and Landon Anglin, all of Mena; grandchildren, Jennifer Shure of Van Buren, Elissa Barnes of Del City, Okla., Jeremy Joplin of Fort Smith, Sean Toahty of Del City, Okla., and Paul Joplin of Sallisaw; and great-grandchildren, Charis, Levi and Luke Shure of Van Buren.

        The family will visit with friends Wednesday evening Sept. 30, 2009, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

        Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor?s choice.
