      Text: Nell Tacket rites slated
      Funeral services for Mrs. Nell Tackett, age 95 and a longtime Clinton resident, will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Meacham Chapel of the First Baptist Church in Clinton with Rev. Bryan Gilbert officiating.

      Nell Little was born on Feb. 14, 1908 in Neosho, Mo., the daughter of James Benjamin and Geneva (Farley) Little. She died Saturday, Feb 7, 2004, in the Jackson County Memorial Hospital at Alva.

      She moved to Clinton in 1923 with her parents and graduated from Clinton High School in 1926. Active in basketball, she played jump center for three years. Her graduating class was the one that chose "Red Tornadoes" as the Clinton schools' mascot.

      On July 28, 1976, she married Thomas Lewsi Tackett in the First Baptist Church.

      They farmed near Arapaho until they moved to Vinita in 1950.

      She served more than 3,000 hours with the Hospital Auxiliary, volunteered with Meals on Wheels and spent many hours visiting friends in the nursing homes and hospitals.

      Tackett also was a charter member of the Sunnyside Club and was honored with the clubs' Family and Community Award in 1999.

      A member of the Baptist Church since she was eight, she participated in the Sunshine Sunday School Class and the Just Older Youths (J.O.Y.) Choir.

      Tackett had moved to Altus two years ago to be closer to her daughter.

      Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Stanley Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.

      Survivors include her daughter Peteres, and her husband C.A., of Altus; a daughter-in-law, Faye Tackett of Orange Beach, Ala.; grandchildren, Tom Peters and his wife Rebecca of Altus; David Peters and his wife, Kathy, of Gulf Shores,Ala., Jerry Peters, and his wife, Donna, of Guthrie, Karen Tackett and her husband, Todd Brooks, of Jacksonville, Fla., James Tackett and his wife, Amanda, of Dallas, Texas; great-grandchildren, Brett, Adrienne and Silas Peters, Daizy Tackett and Justin and Chlo0e Kerry; sisters-in-law, Zella Mae Stratton of Clinton, Ann Little of Hinton, Jessica Carroll of San Antonio, Texas; brothers-in-law, Barney Tackett and his wife, Ollie, of Clinton, Tackett of Paradise, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.

      The family suggests those who desire may make memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church building fund in Clinton.
