    Chauncey and his brother Benjamin were killed in the explosion of the confederate ship KENTUCKY. The news of their death was transmitted by letter the original of which is in the possession of Dr. Wm. Young, Fayetteville, TN.

    !DEATH: Obituary of Chauncey Little, FAYETTEVILLE OBSERVER; 1861; May 30, 1861; ;Public Library, Fayette TN; NOTE FROM ABOVE: On Sunday morning 19th inst. the Steamer Kentucky exploded her mad receiver at Columbia Arkansas on the Mississippi River by which eleven persons were killed. Benjamin and Montgomery Little (brothers) of Bedford County were so badly scalded that they died.....defective iron caused the accident. (Note wrong name, Montgomery did not die until 1863).

    !RELATIONSHIP: Deed of Sale, Bedford County (TN) Court Minute Book; 1869-1872; Sale of land in Memphis, Shelby County, TN.to settle estate of Benj Little, entered as of 2 July 1866; pg 566-567;Courthouse, Shelbyville TN; NOTE: Notes that parents are not included as heirs in law so they are most likely dead. No wives/children of Chauncey, Benjamin or Montgomery Little or included so they evidently do not exist. The loose court papers for this time period in Bedford County were destroyed by fire so no furter information can be obtained from them.
