Loretta June "Twiggy" Drake, 80, of Milton, a very beloved person, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at Edgerton Care Center with family and wonderful nursing staff at her bedside, after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born on June 6, 1930, in Edgerton, WI, the daughter of the late Adam and Hazel (Benash) Zaborek. She was a graduate of Edgerton High School, Class of 1950. June married Don Drake on Dec. 23, 1953, in Milton; and they were 14 days short of reaching their 58th anniversary. They lived in different areas of the Caribbean before settling down in Milton and raising their four children. June was a member of the Milton United Methodist Church. She had a special knack for loving, sharing, caring and giving, always welcoming anyone into her home. She touched your heart with her love, courage, optimism, willingness to listen, her energy (Energizer Bunny), and she was the greatest role model. In 1982, she opened the Duck-En Health Food Store, while in remission with the first bout of cancer. She also sold Fuller Brush for 31 years, receiving many awards for top sales. In 1982, she won Milton's Mother of the Year Award. She participated in 17 American Cancer Society Relays for Life. She loved camping, and gardening and nature and the Green Bay Packers and Nascar. June was proud of her Polish heritage and could make you cry laughing at the funny things she would do. She was rich in family and friends, to whom she showed her strong strength and never ending love. She was known as the Great-Grandma with a snack to share at all times. Spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were precious moments to her. She truly felt blessed for each day. She is survived by her husband, and soul mate, Don; her two daughters: Gail (Jerry) Berg of Milton, and Deanna (Mike) Liotta, of Appleton, WI; one son, Mark (Kristi) Drake of Milton; eight grandchildren: Erika Berg of Milton, Kara (Scott) Rooney of Janesville, Anthony Liotta of Appleton, Josh (Lynn) Glowacki of Fort Atkinson, Melissa (Josh) Stage of Janesville, Aaron Glowacki of Milton, Jamie (Ashlee) Glowacki and Nick (fiancee, Jenny Tomaszewski) Glowacki, both of Janesville; three and one-half great-grandchildren: Kaden Rooney, Hailey Stage, Kaitlyn Stage, and Evan Glowacki ,soon to be born; great step-grandson, Avery Stage; one brother, Jim (Swanny) Zaborek; three sisters-in-law: Gloria "Fido" (Dale) Harried, Ruth Zaborek, and Janet (Chuck) Rote; one brother-in-law, Gordon Drake, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Susan; her parents, Adam and Hazel Zaborek; brothers: Donald "Zab" Zaborek and Richard "Mohot" Zaborek; father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Gladys Drake; foster parents, Albert and Rose Jensen; special niece, Allyson Zaborek; and sister-in-law, Maureen Drake. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2010, at the Milton United Methodist Church, with Rev. Patrick Schultz officiating. Burial will take place in Milton Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 p.m. on Monday at the Whitcomb-Lynch-Albrecht Funeral Home, Milton, and from 10 a.m. until the start of the service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to HospiceCare Inc. or American Cancer Society or Milton United Methodist Church.
