    John, b. in Eng. 1626, m. in Hing. Dec. 4, 1648, Elizabeth, dau. of Nicholas and Mary Jacob. She was b. in Eng. 1632, and surviving him, m. secondly, March 23, 1690-91, Daniel Cushing, Esq., widower. John d. 14 March, 1686-87, Št., as his gravestone says, 61 yrs. Was chosen lieut. in 1664, afts. capt. When serving against the Dutch at N.Y. he 'was preferred for' (promotion?) under orders from Cromwell. In 1680 he was in command of a troop of cavalry. Selectman in 1662, 1670, 1673, 1675, 1680, 1681, 1683, and 1685; representative at the General Court 1666, etc. Resided on North St., where now stands St. Paul's Catholic Church.
