    Elizabeth Dean Cushing, 83, of Middleboro died at home Friday, Jan. 18, 2002. She was the wife of Robert L. Cushing; they were married 60 year
    Born in Middleboro [Massachusetts], the daughter of the late Norman and Florence (Dean) Smith, she was a lifelong resident of the town.
    A 1936 graduate of Middleboro Memorial High School, she also graduated from Katherine Gibbs in Boston and Wheaton College in Norton.
    She was a member of the Church of Our Savior and a volunteer at the Nearly New Shop of the church. She was also a member of the Cabot Club. She was a board member of St. Luke's Hospital, Middleboro, and a volunteer at Lakeville Hospital.
    Her hobbies were bowling, golf, playing cards, cribbage, needlework, doing ceramics, tole painting and traveling.
    Survivors include her widower; two sons, Josiah Stearns Cushing of Stow and Jonathan Dean Cushing of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two daughters, Judith Lemira Thomas of Chelmsford and Jean Carol Cushing of Newington, Conn.; seven grandchildren, Damon, Lauren, Josiah III, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Melissa and Benjamin; and a great-granddaughter, Aidan.
    She was the sister of the late Lemira Smith.
    Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Church of Our Saviour, Centre Street. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery.
    Arrangements are by Egger Funeral Home, 61 Pearl St.
