    George Clinton Cushing, 73, passed away on Saturday November 9, 2013 in the comfort of his home with his family by his side. He was born on February 18, 1940 in Newbury, VT, the son of Harry Joseph and Doris Evelyn (Meader) Cushing.

    George was stationed in Germany while serving in the United States Army from 1960 to 1964. He married Linda Willson on July 10, 1965. Early on George drove school bus; he then began working for Agway from 1967 to 1981 as an I and S supervisor. He later owned the Newbury Garage from 1982 to 1990. He worked as the Maintenance Supervisor for Montgomery Wire from 1991 until he retired in 2004.

    George was a member and former chief of the Newbury Fire Department during the 70's and 80's. He also was a race car sponsor at Bear Ridge Speedway during the 80's. George obtained his GED at the age of 50. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, hunting, target practicing, fishing, Nascar, Car racing, collecting, his dog Reba, sitting on the porch watching the animals, tinkering on anything that wasn't working, which he would do for anyone, building things and making apple cider. For many years George had a large garden.

    George was predeceased by his parents, his sisters; Ruth Fifield and Priscilla Cushing, brothers, Harold Cushing Murdock, Donald Cushing Murdock, nephews Joseph Carroll Cushing and Maurice "Sonny" Coutermarsh. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Linda (Willson) Cushing of Waterford, VT, his daughters Patti Valley of St. Johnsbury, VT and Christine Tillotson of Waterford, VT, siblings; Katherine Cushing of Newbury, VT, Mary Coutermarsh of Concord, NH, James Cushing and wife Rebecca of Lisbon, NH, Harry Cushing and wife Sandra of Reygate, VT, Doreen Delano of Newbury, VT Linda Whitehill and Husband Bud of Groton, VT and Patricia Carle of Prescott, AZ. George is also survived by his grandchildren Katie, Samantha, and Kari Tillotson of Monroe, NH, Christopher Valley of St. Johnsbury, VT, a three week old great Grandson Camden James Tillotson; Sister in Laws Dorothy Dodge and husband Fred of Haverhill, NH, Dorothy Willson of Waterford, VT, many nieces and nephews and friends.
