    An abstract of probate records: William F Barker, John Creech and William Priester completed an inventory of the personal property on 29 Nov 1842, declaring the total value at $10,114, with 24 Negroes worth $7650, named Amy, Jack, Will, Elick, Billy, Handy, Lymus, Stephen, Sandy, Dinah, Rose and her five children Fanny, Nelson, Boston, Asia and America, Rachael and her four children Jinny, Jes, Chany and Abram, Little Stephen, Lucy and her child Malisa. Of the remaining property, livestock and crops were worth about $1700, tools and equipment about $100, notes and accounts due about $400, and household goods about $200. The greatest value of these items were 50 head of stock cattle, 118 hogs, 1300 bushels of corn and 21,000 lbs of seed cotton.
    Also: the Ordinary of Barnwell District recorded an affidavit on 25 Nov 1842, respecting the value of Mr. Richard R Barker's land - filed by William Priester and John Williams concerning "two small tracts of land belonging to the Estate of Mr. Richard R Barker, one containing 150 acres, and the other 75 acres, situate on the big Cypress waters of the Great Salt Catcher River adjoining the land of Laurence McMillan, Wm Cave, Wm F Barker and others. And that the two tracts together are not worth a thousand dollars.
    Also: William R Barker petitioned as administrator on 1 Dec 1842 to sell the personal property of the estate. The sale occurred on 19 Dec 1842, and the accounting shows total sale of $3806. Purchasers were: John H Harley, William L McMillan, William A Faust, Jacob Brunson, William F Barker, Dr. T N Badger, Maj William McMillan, John A Brunson, John Moody, James Moody, John R Morris, Milton A Brown, John Dortch, John Hoover(?), O W Barker, James G Barker, Joel McMillan, Sarah Braxton, William J Harley, David Williams, Richard C McMillan, C E Burke, Miles M Jackson, Mrs. Sarah Barker, Thomas F Hogg, W R Barker. Negroes purchased: Jack to Mrs Sarah Barker; Stephen, a Negro woman & four children (probably Rachael and her four children Jinny, Jes, Chany and Abram) to Thomas F Hogg; Eleck and Amy to W R Barker.
