Mrs. Ann Barker, or Nancy as she is also noted in probate records, died intestate sometime between 7 Jun 1841 and 24 Oct 1841. Her son Richard R Barker petitioned the Ordinary of Barnwell District for administration of his mother's estate and approval for selling his mothers personal property. The petition was approved on 26 Oct 1841 and public sale was authorized. Thos F Hogg, W R Barker and William.L.McMillan completed an inventory of Ann's property on 29 Oct 1841 and estimated its value at $183.50. Except for eleven head of cattle worth $66, the rest of Ann's property was kitchen items, household goods or wearing apparel. The sale was conducted on 16 Nov 1841 and the accounting from that sale totalled $202 for Ann's estate.1
