    family notes:
Ernest T. Magnuson was born in Sweden & came to USA in 1868 with his parents & sister. His fathers first name was August, don't know first names of his mother or sister. The family came form Gotteborg Sweden area. His father was a miller in the old country, operating a saw mill $ a grist mill with a water wheel. His mother was the daughter of a Prussian or Russian career army officer. a major, I believe. She was Swedish.. When they came to the US they settled in Vasa- Hector area of Minnisota. Ernest T. Magnuson was a civil engineer(surveyor). He traveled quite a bit in his work & spent two or three years in southern states (Mississippi, Louisiana I think) Later he & Engrie homestead for two years in Alberta Cannada. They settled in Judith Gap, Harlotwon, Two dot area, about 1908-1909, (He drilled water wells in Montana). Then moved to Manhatten, three forks sopington-area.
At some time he worked in or operated a Hardware store. In this period, he was owed money by a well driller who paid him off by giving him his first machine (well-driller)
Ernest T. Magnuson's parents came to Montana with his family. His parents died about 1914 and are buried in& small unkept cemetary at the site of Sappoington (town is now gone) Graves are marked by stainless steel markers place ther by C. L. Magnuson. Engrie;s parents stayed in Minnisota.

According to Dee Cole: " Worthless as tits on a boar"" never did a lick of work if he could get out of it. He was smart, you have to be smart to get out of work."

Lived in an old log cabin right down by the pine tree on Dee and Lee's current place. One day Lee and Stanly sneaked down and put a bucket over the stove pipe and smoked him out.

2-25-00 Dee cole told me that when ernest was 5 and the family was on the boat leaving Sweden, that the family had inadvertently left Ernest on the dock and the boat had to return to pick him up. Ernest's daughter's commeted according to Dee was "they should have left him"
