Note: John Hobbs had left home before the 1851 census. In 1857, he was living with his wife at Providence Cottage, Shortlands, Hammersmith and was employed as a Gentleman's coachman. He was shown in the 1861 census as a tobacconist and in the 1871 census as the postmaster of Hammersmith. His wife Sarah died in childbirth in 1865 and he remarried to Grace Henderson of Streatham. He has several children with Grace who is shown as a widow in the 1881 census.|
