    • Note: The Blacks are traced in John O'Hart's "Irish Pedigrees or The Originand Stem of the Irish Nation," back through the House of Heremon toMilesius of Spain to Adam. This particular branch of the Blackfamily were French Huguenots named "LeNoir," who migrated to Irelandfrom France to escape religious persecution under the Acts andOrdinances of Subscription of Charles I of England in 1642. Theybecame naturalized and had their French name anglicized to Black.After the execution of Charles I in January,m 1639, the Blacks becamesoldiers under Cromwell and they were among the Cromwellian Trooperswho were disbanded in the County of Sligo in the northwestern part ofIreland on June 3, 1652. Shortly after that time these Blacksmigrated to Scotland where as members of the Black Family they were aSept of Clan Gregor (The Clan MacGregor). King James II of Englandand VII of Scotland, who died September 6, 1701, and was the son ofCharles I and Henrietta Maria, sent the Blacks to Ireland fromScotland in the 17th century where we first begin with James Black theWool Merchant (James No. 1)/
