  • ID: I10538
  • Name: Pamela Beryl Digby
  • Prefix: The Hon.
  • Sex: F
  • Birth: 1920 in England 1
  • Death: 1997 in Paris, France
  • Education: "modest"
  • OFC: U.S. Ambassador to France
  • PPTY: Democrat
  • Note: 2 She allowed BCCI scandal-tainted cotrustee Clark Clifford, along with his advisors Paul C. Warnke & William Rich III, to invest much of Harriman family trust in one single investment scheme, Season's Resort, promoted by Robert Brennan & Eugene Mulvihill, despite their already shakey reputation. The resort owned primarily by B&M via shares in Great American Recreation, apparently had its own unsound financial situation, per its published 10-K. Gt. American Recreation also received desperately needed loans from BCCI controlled 1st American Bank about the time of Harrriman "investments." Mulvihill, a felon who had admitted creating a bogus insurance company, and Brennan both sold out of their shares of Great American Recreation at a profit. 1st American Bank's loans were paid off after Gt. Am. Rec. sold off assests, Season Resorts' 27 hole golf-course. Mulvihill's daughter continued on as Gt. Am.Rec's C.E.O., traditionally a salaried position. William Rich III claimed to have once threatened suit on Harriman's behalf but it was then agreed to instead accept mediation --with Robert Brennan as the mediator! (Apparently mediation let Mulvihill & Brennan off the hook.--AGP note) In Sept 1994 Averell Harriman's children & descendants by a previous marriage sued Pamela Harriman, Clifford, Warnke, and Rich charging they squandered nearly $30 million, most of the Harriman Trust, on bad investments. Share prices on Great American Resorts at one time more than $13 had fallen to around 12.5 cents by 1995 and depending on outcomes of injury compensation lawsuits filed by resort guests the company was in jeopardy of total bankruptcy. Schifrin notes it was at an earlier party in Pamela's lavish home that Clifford, ironically, called President Reagan an "amiable dunce." --from an article in Forbes
