Probably purchased estates of Newark, and of Easter Echt on return from Poland with fortune that had been made there.
Treasurer of Aberdeen 1673?
Purchased "Provost Skene's House" from his late wife's uncle Sir George Skene, Provost of Aberdeen, in 1694. (It seems to have gone later to his dau Catherine Ędie's family.)
Had a dau Mary, married 1699 to ___ Simpson, who had at least one dau, Sarah, married to her cousin Giles Skene 19th of that Ilk (son of George, 18th of that Ilk, qv).
(The families of Moir and Byres, by Andrew John Mitchell Gill. 1885. p53)
David Aedie of Newark and Easter Echt was described as Dean of Guild in 1675 and then as 'late Baillie' in 1681.
"Provost Skene's House" ceased to be in the Aedie family in 1732 - does that suggest that David died then?
