    Physician to Queen Caroline, Frederick Prince of Wales, George II and George III.
    Built Chaddesden House abt 1727. House was passed to Derby Corporation abt 1920-30 and demolished c1935 and housing estate built over the park.
    The Wellcome Library has ?Nature the best physician: a matter of fact, evinced from a most remarkable variolous case, communicated by the learned Dr. Wilmot to the Late Dr. Mead. And now set forth in a poetical narrative.?

    Portraits by Thomas Beach (1738-1806) of Sir Edward Wilmot, bart., M.D., and Richard Tattersall, the well-known horse dealer who established 'Tattersall's? were exhibited in the National Portrait Exhibition of 1867.
    Since both he and his wife are said to have died at Herringston, it would seem maybe they came to live with their widowed daughter in their old age.

    In 1759?66 Richard Warren, another royal physician (whose sister married John Gunning another royal physician) (qv) lived at no 14.
    Who is the Edward Wilmot in the picture ?Edward Wilmot Esq with Bay Hunter and Terrier in Stubton Park? by John Boultbee (1753-1812). Clearly not this Sir Edward. However Stubton was owned by these Wilmots, in the early 20th century at least.
