  • ID: I14260
  • Name: Alan Lauder
  • Suffix: of Whitslaid and Haltoun
  • Prefix: Sir
  • Sex: M
  • Death: ABT 1403 1
  • Note: 1 2

Sir Alan Lauder was usually documented as of Whitslaid and Haltoun. His father, Sir Robert, did not die until c1370 and so Alan lived mostly at Whitslaid, near Lauder burgh. He was granted the forfeited estate of Haltoun in July 1377.
His son, another Sir Robert, moved into the Bass and Tyninghame after his grandfather's death, and Sir Alan (who died about 1403 when his son was served heir) remained at Haltoun. It is thought that he may have had two wives but the evidence is solely one entry in the Great Seal, extemely late in life, where his wife is named as Elizabeth. Its is possible, even probable that this is an error by the scribe.
[I had his wife as Alicia Campbell, dau of Colin Oig Campbell and Helena Mor)
There is some confusion here as Sir Alan, 1st of Hatton, appears to have had two sons named Alexander.
