NB Sir Edmund Ludlow had two sons called Henry, one by each of his wives.
Henry Ludlow was lord of the manor of Withford, Tadley, Hants, in 1625 and was a very unpleasant character, tyranizing his tenants by pulling down their houses and refusing to pay their wages, rates and taxes. After Henry's death in 1639 the history of the manor is uncertain.
The only reference I can find to Clarington in Wiltshire other than connected to Henry Ludlow is this:
A document dated 7 Dec. 1655 says 'These to my honred: Friend William Ludlow Esqr. at Clarington neere Salisbure these' Endorsed: 'Certificate from the Commissioners to the Councill concerninge Hethelton'.
Elizabeth the daughter of Sir Henry Ludlow of Clarington Park in Wiltshire married Robert Corbet of Stanwardine, (MP in 1654).
The ghost of Henry Ludlow is thought to haunt the area and ...
Clarington park and maner place about a mile by S. Est from Saresbyri. The parke is a very large thyng and hath many kepers in it.
(Leland's Journey through Wiltshire 1540-42.)
Presumably this was him?
In 1607, [Sir] Henry Ludlow [MP for Ludgershall, Wiltshire 1604-11] farted in Parliament during a debate about the naturalization of the Scots. This may have been an accident ? his father Sir Edward Ludlow was renowned for having farted in a committee meeting ? but the House fell about and Ludlow?s farting Nay-vote passed into folklore. Endless poems were written about the fart ? the best-known being The Censure of the Parliament Fart from the 1620s
