Name: John Rainsford
Prefix: Sir 1
Residence: Bradfield, Essex
Change Date: 26 JUL 2011
Born of Raynesford Hall, Lancaster? Seems odd that he is given a Lancashire connection given that his father was said to be of Suffolk and Essex. However it sort of ties in with this from Pimbley?s Dictionary of Heraldry:
(Stanmore-Magna, co. Middlesex, Dallington, co. Northampton, Tew, co. Oxford, and co. Warwick; confirmed by Camden, Clarenceux, as the arms of CHARLES RAYNESFORD, and ROBERT RAYNESFORD, sixth in descent from JOHN RAYNESFORD, of Raynesford Hall, co. Lancaster).
ARMS:..Argent (silver) a cross Sable (black).
CREST:..A roebuck's head erased Sable (black) attired Or (gold).
?...Sir John Raynsford attended Henry Vlll to "the Field of the Cloth of Gold." His will is dated Sept 12, 1521. ...?
