    Of Horden, Claxton, and Dilston.
Dilston is between Hexham and Corbridge, Northumberland.
Sir Robert Claxton regained possession of Dilston Castle in 1441, but in the 1480s Dilston passed by marriage to the Cartingtons.
In 1484 Robert Claxton (grandson of Sir William) died without male issue and left the large inheritance of his family to be divided amongst his four daughters of whom Anne. The wife of John Carrington [Cartington] accepted the Manors of Hawthorne and Dilston in lieu of all claims on the manor of Fishburn. It then appears to have been divided into three parts amongst the remaining coheirs: Margaret, wife of Sir William Elmdon, whose daughter married Sir William Bulmer; Philice, wife of Richard Widdrington; Elizabeth, wife of Richard Conyers.
A settlement of the manor of Claxton on Robert and Ann [sic] his wife was made in 1442. He lived till about 1483, and left four daughters and co-heirs: Margaret wife of Sir William Embleton, Joan wife of John Cartington, Elizabeth wife of Richard Conyers, and Felicia wife of Ralph Widdrington. By a partition of his property Sir William Embleton and Margaret came into possession of Claxton, which followed the descent of William's manors of Embleton and Twisdale into the hands of Bertram Bulmer.
