    Alienated the lands and barony of Fetternear in favor of Hector Abercrombie of Westhall, second son of Alexander Abercrombie of Birkenbog, by his wife Margaret, daughter of William Leslie ninth Baron of Balquhain, 16th November 1627. A charter containing a novo damus was issued 2nd February 1628 and confirmed under the Great Seal on 29th January 1631.

    Another version says he mortgaged Fetternear to ?his brother in law? Sir Alexander Hay of Delgaty, and to William Hay his son, from whom Hector Abercromby acquired the title in 1627.
