Apulton in Ickham, Kent, was conveyed to Hodgekin, in whose descendants the property of it did not remain long before it was sold to Francis Rutland, gent. and he alienated it to John Winter, clerk, prebendary of Canterbury, who in 1605 devised it to John his son, his lands and tenements in Ickham, called Appington.
Will of Michael Denne of Ickham, yeoman, proved 8 September 1594:
To Margaret his wife the mansion wherein he dwelt, with the lands, etc., belonging to it which he lately purchased of Francis Rutland, gent, for life.
