    William, Master of Ruthven had letters of ligitimation along with his younger brother John Lindsay or Ruthven.
    William, Master of Ruthven, eldest son and heir, received a ligitimation with his brother, giving them the right of mutual succession, 2 July 1480, and a grant of the lands of Ruthven, 12 July 1480, resigned by his father. In 1507 he is styled son and apparent heir of William, Lord Ruthven. He fell at the battle of Flodden 9 September 1513.
    He married first, Catherine Buttergask, and secondly, Jean Hepburn.
    His issue was William Ruthven, heir to his grandfather, and Isobel, who married John Murray.
