NICHOLAS LE BLOUNT (brother to Sir THOMAS BLOUNT, summoned to Parliament 1326), who, having taken an active part in the insurrection to restore Richard II to the throne [1399], was outlawed and forced to fly the kingdom. On his return to England, NICHOLAS LE BLOUNT is stated to have changed his surname to that of CROKE, and from him derived the family of that name, of which were Sir JOHN CROKE of Chilton, Speaker of the House of Commons, temp. Elizabeth; and Sir GEORGE CROKE of Studley, an eminent Judge during the reign of Charles I.
[It is hard to see how he could have been active in 1399 and have a brother summoned to Parliament in 1326, 63 years earlier.]
