"In 1355 John Darcy, chivaler, died seised of the manor of West-Herrington for term of life, by the courtesy of England, held of the Bishop by homage, fealty, suit of court, and the service of one knight's fee, and of the annual value of 6l. 13s. 4d. leaving John Darcy, Chivaler, son of John Darcy del Park, his next of blood, and heir of full age. I have seen no inquisition on the death of the younger John Darcy; but in 1414 Robert Darcy of Herverton, son of John Darcy, Knt. died seised of the manors of Herverton (Harraton) and West-Herrington, leaving his four sisters, or their representatives, his coheirs.
Had a son Robert Darcy esq of Harverton.
According to the 1562 Visitation of Lincolnshire, Katherine, Mary, and Isabel were the daughters of John Darcy (arms: Argent, three roses Gules, a label of three points Sable). It appears that the above Robert Darcy must have died without heir as the sisters all carried the family arms into their marriages.
Katherine married John Hedworth and their daughter Joane (c. 1400) married Richard Hansard.
Mary married John Seymer (arms: Ermine, two chevrons Sable) and their daughter Alice married Thomas Delamore (arms: three chevrons).
Isabel married a Thomas Darcy (c.1380). Isabel's grandaughter Margaret Darcy married a Robert Conyers (c. 1420).
Both Katherine's and Mary's lines disappear in the male lines and marry into the Hansard family.
SIR JOHN D'ARCY, KNT., had issue:?
1. Robert, who died issueless.
2. Isabel, married to Thomas D'Arcy, of Park, and left a SOD, Rowland D'Arcy, of Henton, in the county of Lincoln, one of the co-heirs to his uncle, Robert D'Arcy.
This Rowland left an only daughter and heiress, Margaret, who married Robt. Conyers.
3. Elizabeth, married to Sir R. Percy, and had a son, Thomas Percy, of Rydale, one of the co-heirs of his uncle, Robert D'Arcy.
4. Katherine, married to John Hedworth, and had a son, John Hedworth, one of the co-heirs of his uncle, Robert D'Arcy: from this John, lineally descended John Hedworth, of Harraton, who left two daughters, his co-heirs; namely, Dorothy, married to Ralph Lambton, and Elizabeth, married to Sir William Williamson, Bart.
5. Mary, married to Semer.
Of some kin to the original lords, John D'Arcy, Knight, eventually obtained the lordship of the Manor of Herrington, co Durham. The D'Arcy line ended in heiresses and the thirds of the manorial rights passed into other families including the Hedworths who lived at Harraton, their principal seat.
