Soon after 1408 the local Hamond family incorporated the former 'Momplers' holding at Swaffham, comprising 140 a. of several land, with their own accumulated 140 a. (fn. 68) Nicholas Hamond of Swaffham (fl. from 1420), the Ingoldisthorpes' receiver c. 1435 and reckoned among the gentry by 1434, (fn. 69) was succeeded c. 1448 by William Hamond.
A Hamond still owned the manor of Swaffham in 1883.
A later Nicholas Hamond founded the school at Swaffham.
