    King's School, Canterbury Register, 1859 to 1931. Page 190:
According to the School Register, Edwin Wilfrid Gardener was at the King?s School from Michaelmas 1905 to December 1911. He was born at Canterbury on 15 September 1896, son of Edwin Lockey Gardener, auctioneer. As a local boy, he was presumably a dayboy. He apparently went to Dulwich College 1912-14, was in the H.A.C. 1914-19, and then became an auctioneer and surveyor in Canterbury. His address (in 1931) was Barton Croft, Canterbury, and the business was at 9 The Parade, Canterbury. We don?t know anything more about him. I have had a quick look in the school magazines for the period, but as he wasn?t in the rugger or cricket teams, it is hard to find anything more.
The Scottish Forestry Journal (!) has the following listing on page Page 1914 - of what year?s issue?
1922. GARDENER, Edwin W., 69 Castle Street, Canterbury
?The other chap who bought a lot of the village [of Patrixbourne] in 1949 was Edwin Wilfred Gardener."
