    The Battle of Verneuil:
Among the Scots, the Earls of Buchan and Douglas, with Douglas's heir lord James, were dead, with fifty other Scottish knights. Total Franco-Scots losses at Verneuil were about 8,000 men, an awesome total when added to those lost at Cravant, and a grievous blow to Scotland. Once again, an English army had triumphed in the field, and from this time on, only a few Scots came across the seas to fight the old enemy in France.
