    ---
1441 - Herstmonceux Castle was begun by Sir Roger (???) Fiennes (later Lord Dacre) who fought at Agincourt, it was written of him (...he took part in the glorious battle of Agincourt taking with him from Herstmonceux eight men-at-arms and twenty-four archers...).  Permission for Sir Roger to take over 600 acres of his Herstmonceux land meant that most of the local families were move from the vicinity of the local church and settle nearly two miles away (modern Herstmonceux).

The above is surely confused in that Sir Richard was the first Lord Dacre?
