  • ID: I9932
  • Name: Alexander Meldrum
  • Suffix: of Fyvie
  • Sex: M
  • Birth: ABT 1406 1
  • Death: ABT 1450
  • Residence: Fyvie Castle, Aberdeenshire
  • Note: 2

Was Meldrum of Meldrum before his marriage to the Preston heiress.
The Forbes data says that Margaret Forbes married Alexander Meldrum of Fyvie about 1418. If the date is right he can not have been of Fyvie unitl after his marriage, as the first Meldrum of Fyvie was the Alexander who gained it on his marriage in 1433 to the Preston heiress.

If Margaret Forbes?s husband ever was of Fyvie, then he must the one who married the Preston heiress.
?A branch of the Meldrum family, the Meldrums of Crombie, married into the powerful Preston family and accordingly quarter the Meldrum arms with those of Preston?
Apparently William de Meldrum (qv), son of Sir Philip de Meldrum (d 1330) was ancestor of the Meldrums of Fyvie.
