  • Note:
Adelaide of Tours (c.820-c.866) was a daughter of Hugh of Tours and his wife Ava.

She married Conrad I, Count of Auxerre, with whom she had at least two children, Hugh and Conrad the Younger.

After his death she probably married Robert the Strong,[1] whose children Odo and Robert I of France are perhaps hers.

Since Robert was born in 866, well after her first husband died, he is more likely to be her offspring. His grandson was Hugh Capet, the first King of the House of Capet.

Hugh the Abbot (d.886) was a member of the Welf family, a son of Conrad I of Auxerre and Adelaide. After his father's death, his mother married Robert the Strong, the margrave of Neustria. On Robert's death in 86 6, Hugh became the regent and guardian for Robert's sons, Odo and Robert.

The name of Robert's wife is not attested in primary sources. Accordi ng to some modern scholars she was Adelaide or Adalais, a daughter of Hu gh of Tours (and thus an Etichonid) and the widow of Conrad I of Auxerre ( died 862), a Welf. Since Robert already had children by 862, Adelaide wou ld have to have been his second wife. French genealogist Christian Settipa ni has identified the source of this identification as the unreliable twel fth-century Chronicle of Saint-Bénigne de Dijon, which was interpolated in to the chronicle of Alberic of Trois-Fontaines. The Europäische Stammtafe ln has identified Robert's first wife as a certain Agane. Whatever the fac ts, two of Robert's sons became kings of France: Odo and Robert.
