    This victory allowed the advance of the Leonine border of the Duero to t he Tormes. In the last years of his reign he could not avoid Castilian ind ependence under the direction of the count Fernán González, but still in 9 50 he launched an expedition to the valley of the Edge (950) and defeat ed the Muslims in Talavera.
