    THE TEXAS MESQUITER
We are sad to chronicle the death of one of our old neighbors and friends, Mrs. Lydia Potter, which occurred on Thursday, April 27 (1911 - VPB). Mrs. Potter was born in Kentucky 81 years ago and came with her father, Watt Mark (Watts Marks - VPB), to Texas in 1846. She married Job Badgley in 1847. Two children were born of this union. She was left a widow and in 1854 she married Absalem Potter. Eight children were born of this union of which five survive her as follows: Mrs. E. W. Ingle, Mrs. H. C. Marcum, Messrs. A. J., Marion & Henry Potter. Mrs. Potter lived in the church of her choice for half a century, the Primitive Baptist. She had been an invalid for several months, but God said she had suffered long enough. Come up higher to the joys of your Lord. The funeral services were conducted at the family residence by Rev. G. C. Garrison, after which the body was laid to rest by the side of her husband at Pleasant Mound. Mrs. Potter was an excellent neighbor, wife and mother and she will be greatly missed by a host of friends & relatives, but our loss is her gain.
