From 'Dietz Cookbook and History 1990' compiled by Sharon Pierce Schierand Maybelle McAbee Bates:

Jocyphine Elizabeth Dietz, the second child of Daniel Frederick Dietz andMatheny Ann Cordell Dietz, was born on 4 March 1853 in Walker County,Georgia. In 1859/60, not long before Josie's seventh birthday, Daniel andTheney moved their family to Catoosa County. Around 1869, probably inWalker County, Georgia, Josie married John W. Foster, son of John Y. andMary A. Foster. John and Josie lived near their parents and wereenumerated as follows on the 1870 U.S. Census of Catoosa County, Georgia:

    Age Race Sex Occupation Born
    293-296 Foster, John W 24 W M Farming GA
    Elizabeth J. 17 W F Keep house GA

John, Josie, and their growing family were also enumerated on the1880 U.S. Census of Catoosa County, Georgia. On the 26 December 1880Article of Agreement with P.A. Murray to teach at Dietz Schoolhouse, JohnW. Foster's name appears in the list of subscribers.
It is known from court and personal records that John and JosieFoster were still residents of Catoosa County in 1890. Then in the 1890'sthey moved to Texas. Maurice Rogers says that after his grandfather JohnPrichard died in 1898, his grandmother Ruth Dietz Prichard and her threedaughters went out and stayed with Josie and her family for a while, hebelieves in the Amarillo area. Maurice says that John worked for therailroad and used to come back to north Georgia once a year to visit.Later, some of the family moved to Little Rock, Arkansas.
Bobbie Dietz Huskey has in her possession a letter written to hermother Pearl Prichard Dietz from Jim and Rilla Foster, Little Rock,Arkansas, dated 7 June 1930. It would appear that Jim was Josie'sgrandson and that Josie was still alive at that time. In 1930 several ofJosie's children and grandchildren were living in Little Rock, andRilla's letter also mentioned other family members in Ft. Worth, Texas. '
