      In October 1809, the Lincoln County Court appointed Henry Finger th e
      guardian of Catherine Finger, the daughter of his deceased brother
      John.
      Henry Finger appears in the 1810 federal census of Lincoln County. A t
      home was one male and five females under the age of ten, one female


      between 10 and 16, one female 45 or older, and his wife, who was
      slotted in the 26 to 45 year bracket.
      Finger family historian James A. Finger points out that Henry Finge r
      "became the first Finger family member to move out of Lincoln Count y,
      North Carolina, sincethe family's arrival in 1777." In April 1811,
      Henry sold his land holdings in Lincoln County and moved his family t o
      Rutherford County, Tennessee. On 19 November 1812, Henry Finger pai d
      James Henderson $800 for 200 acres of land. The Rutherford County
      property was on the waters of Armstrong's Branch, of theOveralls
      Creek, which feeds into the West Fork of Stones River.
      Henry Fingerwas living in Rutherford County, Tennessee in the feder al
      census of 1820. Athome was his wife, two females and one male
      between 16 and 26, two females 10to 16 years, three males and two
      females under the age of ten.
      On 9 July 1824, Henry Finger sold his land holdings in Rutherford
      County, Tennessee, and moved his family to Madison County, Tennesse e.
      With Jackson as it's county seat,Madison County is about 75 miles
      northeast of Memphis. Henry paid Daniel Ross $800 for 122 acres on
      the south fork of the Forked Deer River.

      "Henrich" Finger was a son of the Pennsylvania Dutchman Peter Finge r.
      On 9 September 1749, Peter had arrived in Philadelphia, at the age o f
      19, aboard the ship ST. ANDREW. In May 1778, he purchased 270 acres


      of land on Leeper's Creek from Abraham Keener. Philip Gentzler woul d
      move to a farm on Leeper's Creek in 1789. This proximity offarms
      helps to explain the many marriages made between the descendants of


      these two German pioneers. Henry Finger, born in York County,
      Pennsylvania in 1774, was the eighth of nine children born to Peter


      Finger and his wife, believed to be Catherina Barbara Reinhardt. He


      was listed as a minor on his father's will, dated 25 July 1789. In
      the will, Peter Finger left his home place of 300 acres, which
      bordered both sides of Leeper's Creek, to his son Henry. The Finger


      family would be closely identified with the German Reformed Church a nd
      they were members of Saint Matthews Church in Lincoln County.
      Young Henry married Julianna "Uly" Cline, a granddaughter of Philip W .
      Gentzler, around 1799. On 2 April 1811, Henry Finger sold the farm
      to John Derr and migrated across the mountains to Rutherford County ,
      Tennessee. He died in Madison County,Tennessee in 1845.
