    1688--12 October: John Breidshew, aged 24 years or thereabouts, ...sai th...that he the depon t being servant to John Granger did (sometimelas t spring on a Sunday morning) see Mary the wi fe of the said JohnGrange r say that John Womack had six fletches of bacon in his housebeside s m iddling and other small meat and had killed but one hogg out ofhis own s tock that year. ( Henrico Co. VA 1677-1739, Book 5, p. 10.)

    1688--12 October: John Bradshaw aged 24 years or thereabouts examineda nd sworn saith that ab out two days before John Granger's tobacco house wherein was Sam'l Fowlers tobacco was burne d Lain Fowler did say that h adto have John Granger's barn...and that he would bring more dana ge on h imthe said Granger than he was aware of and the next day such was...day before the hous e was burned. Fowler said to Depont (John Bradshaw) th athe dreamt Mary the wife of John Gran ger had fired the tobacco house a ndburnt all his tobacco. (Henrico Co. Records 1677-1739).

    1690--Court: Richard Kennon patents 8,000 acres, headrights include:Jo hn Bradshaw. (Henric o Co. Va. Records 1677-1739, p. 327).

    1696--1 June: John Bradshaw having attended two days as an evidenceaga inst Will Arrington o n be halfe of ffra Reeve judgement is awardedagai nst him the sd. Reeve for 80 pounds of tobac co according to the lawwit h costs. (Henrico Co. Records 1677-1793, Book 3).

    After the above records, no further records seem to exist on this JohnB radshaw; however, ver y shortly the name of Elizabeth Bradshaw surfaces in Henrico County. It is believed that sh e was the wife of John. It i salso believed that Larner, Benjamin, and William of Henrico an d later Goochland and Cumberland counties and a younger John Bradshaw II were a lldescendants o f this John and Elizabeth.


    "Cavaliers and Pioneers" by Nell M. Nugent says Ed Walsh received 900ac res for bringing 18 pe ople to Virginia. John Bradshaw was one of them .


    It is yet to be found for sure when and how John Bradshaw arrived in th eUnited States. One ac count has John Bradshaw arriving in America in 1 687on the ship "Endeavor". Another account o f his arrival as coming f romIreland transported by Richard Kennon in 1683. This account is s om ewhatbacked up by court records in Henrico County, Virginia, which show t histransportatio n Kennon did not put in his claim for land until April 1 ,1690, at which time he put in a clai m for 8,000 acres.

    Ages as given by deposition in county records in 1688 - 1697 Book, Henr ico Co., Va. October 1 2 1688, pg 10 John Bradshaw, 24. This puts hisbi rth year at 1664.

    There is also an account that John, the 4th child of Ralph and Rachelsa iled from England wit h his brother James, and his brother-in-law,Admir al William Crispin around 1680. They stoppe d over in Barbados, whereth e Admiral died, and they went on to Philadelphia, where their cous in,W illiam Penn, was presiding. Some researchers then maintain that he went on after a bit t o Henrico County, Virginia. There, he surrounded himse lfwith people of the same names that ap peared with his family back inE ngland: Robinson, Marham, Radcliffe, etc.[072902-2000.ged]
