    Joel Bunker, one of our well known townsmen, died very unexpectedly early Monday mornign at his home on Lynn street ... Mr. Bunker was born at Sparta, Kent county, on Oct. 27, 1856. When a child he moved with his mother to Sanilac county, where he grew to manhood. At the age of 22 he entered the employ of the Port Huron and North Western RR as a day laborer in the construction department. He was promoted rapidly and in eight years was running one of the fastest trains on the road as a conductor, a position he held for ten years; when he entered the employ of the Grand Trunck in its engineering department where he remained until 1892, when he came here to reside.
    In 1875 he was united in marriage to Miss Rosella Wixan, who died in 1890. In 1895 he was again married to Miss Maggie Weislogal of this place and later they came to this village to reside which had since been his home. In the spring of 1917 he was elected to the office of highway commissioner which he held for two years.
    Besides his widow he is survived by five children, Mrs. Austin Wood, Mrs. Chas. Sanborn and Benjamin Bunker of this township, Leslie Bunker of Clarkston and Elsie Bunker at home. He also leaves his aged mother, Mrs. Thomas Cook and the following brothers and sisters: Oscar of Richmond, Orso of Flint, Mrs. J. L. Wood and Mrs. C. H. Wood of this place. ... Interment was made in the Flushing cemetery.
