Daniel Blair, a son of Samuel Blair, whose wife was Martha Campbell Lyle,
married, in Ireland, Martha McCullough. This Daniel was a brother of Esther
Blair who married in 1731 Matthew Lyle and came to Virginia. From Daniel
came a son, Samuel Blair, born near 1735 and died in 1820. Samuel was one of
the "Hearts of Steel Boys" in 1763. Because of this he fled to America. He
married, in Philadelphia Mrs. Ann Young, a widow with one daughter married
to Thomas Gilmore. Samuel Blair settled on the Susquehanna, but in 1797
removed to lands he bought in Crawford Co., Pa., then in the wilderness. His
children were: Samuel, John, Margaret, Polly, Sally and Nancy. 1. Samuel
