    !According to Robert SAWYER of Montrose, IA she is the d/o James CLE MSON, a blacksmith by trade. Her father was b. in Staffordshire, England. She was b. in PA in 1705/6 and d. 9 Sep 1788 and is bur. next to her husband in De rry Church graveyard. (Doc. #673) Her father is an ancestor of Richard M. NIX ON. Her name is also spelled "Sofia". According to the records of Derry Church cited in WTS Gen. pg. 7 Rev. R.H. Taylor, pastor of Derry Church, copied her t ombstone which read "In Memory of Sophia Sawyer who departed this life the 9th of September, 1788 in the 85th year of her age."
    Marriage: She m. Wm. SAWYER (Doc. #9, 103, 299)
    Family: Doc. #29 says her family came from Ireland. Her PC (Doc. #308)
    Birth: She was b. abt 1713, d/o James CLEMSON & Sarah ____ and m. William SAWYER-rec'd her father's bonds (Doc. #1051).
    Will: She left a Wi ll dated 22 Mar 1788 wherein she identifies herself as "widow and relict of Wil liam SAWYER, yeoman, being sick and far advanced in years but of sound and disp osing mind". She identifies some of her children and grandchildren. (Cited an d reproduced in "Sawyer Family History" pg. 14, by Hazel SAWYER)[hannah sawyer.ged]
