PERHAM - James E. Farley, 61, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010, at his home, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 25, 1948, to Alton and Muriel (Alley) Farley. He was the youngest of seven children.
He graduated from Washburn High School and Northern Maine Community College, Presque Isle. There he was chosen student of the year in 1994. He worked for Perham Store and Post Office and Caribou Post Office for 18 years until an injury forced him to take an early retirement. Jim helped care for his parents until they passed away in 1998 and 1999. He worked at various administrative positions after that. He was well known for his gardens of flowers and beautiful Christmas lights.
He is survived by his partner, Cliff Philbrook of Perham; two sisters, Arlene of Mapleton and Crystal of Richmond Hill, Ga.; two brothers, Braighton of Perham and Alton Jr. of Washburn; as well as many extended family members and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Russell of Washburn and Dana of Woodland; a brother-in-law, Lloyd Baker of Mapleton; several nieces and nephews.
The family expresses their many thanks to Jim's doctors and nurses, and especially to Pearl. A time of visitation and remembrance will be held 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, at Lancaster Morgan Funeral Home, 11 Clover St., Caribou. Those who wish may make a contribution in Jim's name to the American Cancer Society. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.lancastermorgan.com.
